Sadly death and taxes are two of the inevitabilities of life.
We recommend that all our clients make a Will. The careful arrangement of a client’s affairs both before and after death will ensure that his or her wishes are carried out and can minimise liability to taxation. It will also help avoid family disputes and provide peace of mind.
We have Solicitors in our offices who specialise in the preparation of Wills and are able to give advice on Inheritance Tax and other relevant issues. We will be happy to provide you with an indication of the likely cost of preparing your Will.
In cases where someone is unable or unwilling to manage their own affairs we can provide assistance either by utilising a Lasting Power of Attorney or applying to the Office of the Public Guardian for an Order authorising relatives, friends or professional advisers to administer their affairs.
When death occurs we will obtain a Grant of Probate (or Administration if there is no Will) and deal with the estate. We will also advise whether any Inheritance Tax liability can be reduced by means of a Deed of Variation.
